PLEASE, DON’T ABANDON THE REFUGEES
Dr. Tristan Nguyen
The Refugees are the Victims, they must leave behind
their properties and take risk of their lives to flee and seek safer places to
live; so they’ve been trying their best to evade the
cruelty of an authoritarian regime, and/or the brutality of terrorist violence. Obviously,
the
Refugees are the Victims. They are not the disgustedly dehumanizing
terrorists. The generous countries are always tolerant, benevolent, and that is
strength against barbaric cruelty. Moreover,
the nations with benevolence and kindness are always not afraid of the vandalistic
extremists and/or the insane terrorists; so the
magnanimous nations certainly do not abandon the refugees.
At the Friday night of November 13, 2015 in
Paris the Capital of France, there was a wide range of terrorist attacks by the
suicide bombers and shooting at the innocent civilians. The terrorists killed
129 people and injured 352 people of different nationalities while they were
watching the soccer matches between France and Germany, or enjoying the music
performances, or sipping their favorite coffee in the coffee shop. Generally, they've been enjoying
the lifestyle of well-being, pleasure, and freedom in Paris the Light Capital of
France, then suddenly the terrorists appeared and robbed them of their happiness
and their precious lives, too.
The disgusted terrorists not only killed the innocent
civilians but they also caused a serious psychological impact for the people in
the European countries with fear and distrust toward the Muslim refugees from the
war-torn countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. With fear and distrust the
Europeans suspect the Muslim refugees of terrorism. However, please do not assimilate the
truthful refugees with the disgustedly real terrorists because the refugees
have had to flee the disgusted terrorists and the destruction by the war, they
were not the certain terrorists in the past.
In some circumstances the disgustedly real terrorists
probably could disguise as the pitiful refugees, but among thousands of
refugees there might have been one or two disguised terrorists hiding in the refugee
community; however, sooner or later they will certainly be detected. In such a situation you should
not be afraid of some suspicious terrorists to leave many thousands of refugees
who have been enduring their mental and physical pain from brutality of terrorist
violence and/or cruelty of authoritarian regime in homeland, and now they
need to be rescued. The refugees are the people who have been
trying to find temporary safer places, kind of an asylum, and/or a resettlement
so that they will be able to continue to live and work according to their
abilities. Obviously, the refugees are not the terrorists
who had committed crimes at the Friday night of November 13, 2015 in Paris the
Capital of France.
Recently, series of terrorist attacks happened
within a short period of time in Paris also have created a strong influence on
a number of governments in some European countries, and caused them to
reconsider the decision to receive refugees for resettlement in their countries
in the near future. Specifically, the Polish Government now speaks
out to deny an acceptance of 4500 refugees as it previously agreed under the
share distribution plan for resettlement of refugees across the EU block. Also,
the country of Slovak still rethinks that there is too big security risk relating
to the resettlement of refugees in its country; therefore, Slovak now strongly
does not accept any refugee. Completely different from these two countries,
Germany is steadfastly implementing the policies "Open-Arms" to receive
eight hundred thousand refugees who are entitled to resettle for their new
lives in Germany in 2015.
When objectively considering the events of
terrorist attacks killed and wounded many innocent civilians, it finds out that
actually domestic terrorism because the local terrorists in France or in other
European countries. They implemented the terrorist attacks not from the Islamic
extremists in foreign countries who could sneak into inland. Specific examples are as
follows:
(1)A series of bomb explosions on the city
transit trains in 2004 in Madrid killed 191 and wounded 1,800 passengers. These series of terrorist
attacks were carried out by a group of Spanish citizens with their birth originals
from Morocco, Syria, Algeria, and two informants of the Spanish Police who
coordinated actions of crimes. Obviously, these disgusted terrorists are not the
refugees.
(2) A series of terrorist suicide bombings
collaborated on July 07, 2005 in London that killed 52 people and injured more
than 700 people. These domestic terrorist attacks were done by
four British citizens, three of them were born in Britain and had been living
in the city of Leeds, and the other was a Jamaican immigrant who settled in
England and had been living in the city of Buckinghamshire. Very clearly, these domestic terrorists
are not the refugees.
(3)Happening terrorist attacks the satirical newspaper
offices of Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish owner’s supermarket in Paris on the day of
January 07, 2015 killed 20 people and injured 11 people. These terrorist attacks were
done by three French citizens who were born in France with Algerian origin. Clearly,
all
of them are not the refugees.
The domestic terrorist attacks occurred in the
three countries of Spain, England, and France have set out on the similar
domestic terrorism cases occurred in the United States, those are not caused by
the refugees. Some specific examples of the domestic
terrorist attacks in the United States are typical as follow:
(4) On April 19, 1995 the two domestic
terrorists named Timothy McVeigh and Terri Nichols detonated two strong destructive
bombs to destroy the federal government buildings in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
killed 168 and injured 680 people.
(5) On April 15, 2013 while the Boston
Marathon was taking place almost near the final line, the two domestic
terrorists named Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerian Tsarnaev detonated two home-made
pressure-cooker bombs that killed 3 and injured 264 spectators around.
As objectively commented viewpoint, it is obvious
that the killers in domestic terrorist cases in the free countries are not the
refugees. Because the refugees are certainly not the terrorists, and for a
reasonable understanding as the refugees are trying to find safer places, kind
of asylum, where they can be protected, and/or can be resettled so that they
can rebuild their new lives in a foreign land.
Of course, the result of horrific terrorist
attacks at the Paris Friday night of November 13, 2015 also put a strong pressure
on the American politicians in the US. Understandably, it is their concern
and attention of statewide security due to their responsibilities in the state
administration within the US. The currently so bad situation relating the
refugees and terrorists has been such developing in American politicians’
mindset, that urged 31 State Governors, most of them are Republicans, have voiced their
unwillingness to accept the refugees for resettlement in their states.
Although the constitutional competence to admit
the refugees into the US belongs to the federal authority, there certainly are
many obstacles in the implementation of refugee distribution to be resettled in
each state without its governor’s cooperation, Moreover, the US presidential
candidates of the Republican Party also spoke out their arguments against the
admission of more refugees into the US. In spite of the very big political
obstacles and the heavy criticism, President Obama firmly decided not to change
the programs admitting ten thousand Syrian refugees in 2016.
The Syrian refugees clearly are not the cause
of terrorist attacks and they also are not the perpetrators of terrorism at the
Paris Friday night of November 13, 2015. If we convict the refugees of
terrorism, then obviously we do not understand that they, the refugees, have
refused terrorism; accurately to say that they have been fleeing those who had used
violence to intimidate, to destroy peacefully happy life, and to murder. Therefore, the refugees and the
terrorists are two obviously complete different components. We cannot merge both of them into one
problem, because each has its own solution.
In conclusion, the writer of this article
himself is also a refugee, Refugee of Vietnamese Communism, alike the majority
of Vietnamese Refugees fleeing the communist country, he has a deep sympathy
with all refugees as well as victims of all kind everywhere. Because the
refugees are the people who do not have peace, in danger and need to be evacuated
,
and/or must be rescued. If forty years ago the United States and the
other free countries had not rescued, had not tolerated, and had not allowed for
asylum and/or resettlement; then the writer and the majority of Vietnamese
refugees could not get the present good lives of today . Therefore,
now the writer earnestly requests the competent decision makers in the generous,
tolerant nations, "Please, Don’t Abandon The Refugees"./.
